Who’s for dinner on Halloween

Who’s for dinner on Halloween

There was a time when I needed place cards because I regularly hosted dinner parties.

That however was a long, long time ago. That was back when I religiously memorized every issue of Martha Stewart Living.

Then life changed. Martha donned her Orange is the New Black party clothes and my life became consumed by family health care needs.

Sadly, nowadays–my guest list is purely imaginary. But hey! At least my imaginary guests will have place cards to die for! Read the rest of this entry

My oldest graduating from high school. What is the big meaning of this? Diploma? No. College? No. Employment? Of course not. It’s the opportunity to throw a theme party!

Since my son loves root beer we decided to throw a root beer kegger, complete with root beer flavored candy and vintage root beer decorations.  Please take a look at all the vintage style centerpieces I made (as well as an easy-peasy tutorial) over at the Robin’s Nest.

Origami is not my thing. Trust me on this. I don’t know how someone who specializes in paper crafts can bungle origami so badly. I even have my own Tower-of-Failed-Origami that I am planning to show you sometime soon.

That’s why I picked the simplest origami boat possible for this project. Then, The Husband™ took the paper out for a test-fold before he would even let me make a single crease. Now, don’t go thinking he is some extra special crafty guy. He was just trying to protect our children’s innocence—because me + origami = a sure way for our kids to learn loud and in color exactly how sailors talk. Read the rest of this entry

If you looked closely in my Graphic 45 audition, you might have noticed that fawn in the Spring Matchbox really knows how to celebrate the new season. He has donned a purple polka-dotted party hat, complete with glitter and streamer-like tassel.

I chuckled when today I visited the web site of one of my favorite artists, Lisa Kettle, because coincidentally pictured on her blog is a cute-as-can-be zebra wearing a glittery red party hat. Her post reminded me that more than likely she introduced me many years ago to animal party hats when I read her book Altered Art Circus. Read the rest of this entry
