You’ve heard of Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) and Artrist Trading Blocks (ATBs), but I bet you never heard of the Artist Trading Spoons (ATS). Why? Because I just invented them!

To accompany the Robin’s Nest recipe themed blog hop, I decided to have some fun and create some retro ATSes featuring bold and fun mid-century graphics.

Tutorial to make Artist Trading Spoons

Step 1 Using a blending tool, color the edges of the Perfect Stix Wooden Disposable Spoons 6" Length with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

Step 2 Create a template of your spoon on scratch paper and cut it out.

Step 3 Trace the spoon onto two cardstocks, such as the striped side of the Water Glitter Swirl and the Airplane cardstock and cut out.

Step 4 Briefly run the cardstock spoons under water to dampen. This will make it easier to bend the paper to fit the concave and convex portions of the spoon. Adhere cardstock to front and back of spoon using Mod Podge. Let dry.

Step 5 Ink edges of spoon cardstock with Vintage Photo Distress Ink

Step 6 Fussy cut retro graphics and adhere to spoon with Mod Podge. Coat entire spoon with Mod Podge.

Step 7 Punch a hole in the end of the spoon and run a ball chain through it to attach vintage kitchen trinkets.

I encourage everyone to give the ATS a try. In fact, just to give this new trend a nudge, I will give a finished ATS and a blank spoon to create your own ATS to the first three people who remark in the comment section below that they “want to give making the ATS a try.”

Then, send me a picture of your completed spoon and I will post it in my new Artist Trading Spoon page.

The goodies don’t stop there. The Robin’s Nest is giving a prize to a lucky winner at each blog stop. All you have to do to enter the contest is begin at the Robin’s Nest, follow the links and leave a comment on each blog site.Make sure you visit each of the stops on the Design Team blog hop.

  1. Cute! Where do you find wooden spoons at. I think this is a great idea, you should make a youtube video and I am sure it would take off.
