For moms of young kids, Mother’s Day can be difficult. I bitched for years about not being able to enjoy the “holiday” because it meant racing around trying to honor my mom, step-mom as well as my mother-in-law before she passed away. At least my husband would help my kids give me a gift–I know single moms have it harder.  .

Losing my Dad and nearly losing my mom this year gave me an attitude adjustment. Immensely grateful my mom is still with us, I am determined to relish this day.

With Mother’s Day on my mind, I recently handcrafted cards and tags that are sweet enough to please She-Who-Rules-The-Roost. I am delighted that Alpha Stamps will be featuring these cards at their blog, where they also provide an easy-access supply list.

To make this sweet card, I painted and added texture to Leafy Corners chipboard with a couple shades of green acrylic paint. Then I created a background with Tales of You & Me Jardin de Fleurs Scrapbook Paper and  inked the edges of a photo from The Garden Collage Sheet with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. After adhering the Leafy Corners, I simply added some Tiny Paper Roses.

For the card above, I used many of the same techniques. However, for the background paper, I applied burgundy and ivory acrylic paint through a flower stencil to Serendipity Glee Scrapbook Paper. I then added chipboard embellishments, Small Pale Pink Mulberry Blossoms and Dark Red Wired Pom Poms.

My bird cage card has a three-dimensional effect. I distressed the 3 inch cage is distressed with many layers of brown and ivory acrylic paint and the painted the bird with burgundy, green and ivory paint. I slightly bent the front of the cage before adhering it over the bird and cage back.

Again, I used my flower stencil to apply green and burgundy paint to House of Roses On the Porch Scrapbook Paper. I then added Vintage Photo Distress Ink to the background before applying several roses I cut from Tales of You & Me Notre Jardin Secret Scrapbook Paper.

I completed the card by inking some white Dresden and adhering it and wired red pom poms to the card.

I used the same techniques to also create these tags. You can find all almost all the supplies except for the Chocolate Cherry Dew Drops at here at Alpha Stamps.
